Who did this author want this girl to be really? Thank goodness for the last quarter of the book. By then, it was easier to read and more interesting. After the asylum burns to the ground, the story ensayo sobre la ceguera much better with the final seven characters out in the city.

I would've liked more of the story outside of the asylum. I am not doubting that quarantines would be used like crazy if large amounts of people started to go blind.

This book did make me think.

The protagonists of this new novel, a policeman and the woman who was able to maintain her sight in the novel Blindness, are samples of the moral heights that these anonymous citizens are able to reach when ensayo sobre la ceguera decide to exert their freedom.

It uses long sentences in long paragraphs and lots of commas.

Ensayo sobre la ceguera

Conversation lines are often not separated. Chapters are separated by blank spaces. Thus the book goes on without allowing much pause.

This might work better on other books. Other Latin American authors I like, for instance, use the same or close to the same style, but their works are better. This is specially so when it ensayo sobre la ceguera to pacing. Saramago's novel is extremely slow in its pace, especially in the parts taking place in the asylum.
